VANT MED SJUI SLAG: Cesilie S. Hagen fra Drammen GK var like suveren i dameklassen i Norgesmesterskapet på Stiklestad GK i Verdal. Også hun vant med sju slags margin.

— Planen er å vinne, ja. Så langt har ting gått fint, så vi får se hva som skjer, sa Elias Bertheussen til NRK etter to av de fire NM-rundene.

Etter fire runder var trønderen fortsatt suveren, og vant med sju slag med -13 etter 66-65-69-71, de to første er banerekorder.

Bertheussen, som til daglig spiller på asiatouren og challengetouren, er en av våre få toppspillere blant de profesjonelle som har tatt turen til Stiklestad.

NM-arrangørene reagerer

Styreleder Tore Halvorsen i Stiklestad GK er ikke veldig imponert over at så mange spillere prioriterer andre turneringer enn NM.

— Jeg synes ikke det er bra for sporten generelt, sier han til NRK.

— Det er klart vi savner mange av de andre store stjernene, fortsetter Halvorsen, og trekker fram Espen Kofstad, Knut Børsheim, Suzann Pettersen og Marianne Skarpnord.

Trenerkritikk

— Hvorfor enkelte nedprioriterer NM vet jeg ikke, sier Bertheussens trener, Tom Vollan, til NRK.

— Jeg vil bare poengtere at jeg synes det er merkelig … Jeg skulle like å se at alle de beste, uansett om de er proff eller ikke, prioriterer disse to turneringene.

Grunnen kan kort oppsummeres til to ting: Terminliste og penger.

For de fleste proffene er jobben dårlig betalt, og det er en evig kamp for å få hjulene til å gå rundt.

Når det samme uke arrangeres turneringer på europatouren for herrer og damer, på challengetouren, symetratouren, eccotouren og LET Access Series blir det derfor umulig for NM å konkurrere uten å selv innføre pengepremier.

Også suveren damevinner

Berhteussen vant med sju slag over Alexander Søbstad, Byneset GK, og stavangerspillerne Ole B. Ramsnes og Aksel K. Olsen. mens Cecilie S. Hagen vant med samme margin blant damene.

Drammensjenta hadde 71-67-71-73, også der to banerekorder, og var med -2 sju slag foran Mariell Bruun fra Larvik GK.

Saskia Sterud fra Oslo GK tok bronsjemedaljen, fire slag bak Bruun.

NMs yngste deltaker, 14 år gamle Elias Hustad Birkeland, fikk spille alle fire rundene.

Den unge Molde-spilleren fikk for øvrig overskriftene åpningsdagen da han gjorde HIO på sitt første NM-slag på hull 10. Han endte på delt 42.-plass med +24 etter 78-75-79-76.
